Temptation

Have you ever really wanted something but you know it would be wrong to get it?

really, really want this buggy mum

When I saw the sense of achievement on her face I couldn't help but let her go for it. Now I feel guilty cos I have to keep pulling her away and I can tell she must be thinking "Why mum? You let me have it yesterday?"

16 month portraits

Well I don't always get round to doing these and I really should. Today I took some pictures for Eden's 16 months. I love it when a mediocre looking picture turns out really nice with a bit of tweaking.

She looks soooo old in these! I can't stand it. The only thing keeping her my baby is the fact that she can't walk yet, but that is only around the corner now.

Other stuff you can now do at 16 months:

Gesture for things (pick me up, no etc..)
Stand unaided but not walking yet
Say a few words, "look, mamma, dadda, nanna, thank you, look at that, .."
Feed yourself with a spoon,fork
Attempt to dress yourself

Sure theres more but I can't think now!

Child Model

Today it was nice because my husband and I had the day off work and Eden had the day off nursery so we got to spend some family time together. Actually we had to drive up to Huddersfield because Eden had a casting for Mamas and Papas. I haven't mentioned previously but around Christmas time we got her signed up to a child model agency. Sometimes it feels a bit weird to say that cos you assume people think you must be a pushy parent or "trying to live your dreams though your child" - but that is soooo not the case for us. Eden is gorgeous, but isn't every child? We thought it would be a fun thing to do, plus a bit of pocket money for her and something nice to show her when she is older. If she hated it then obviously we wouldn't do it! As a matter of fact, she really seems into it.. probably because I am always pointing a camera in her face :)

Well she has had 1 job since her profile was completed in January, and 2 castings, this being the second one and we will just let it be and see what happens...

We weren't allowed to take pictures at the casting venue, but heres a couple of other pics from the day..

Look's like we have a late walker. She only started crawling at around 9 months so it is to be expected I guess. Recently she started standing unaided and is getting into the walker now, but she is still a bit wobbly.

Sharing

Trying to explain to a nearly 16 month old that sharing is what you do in a civilised society is (much) easier said than done.

We had company yesterday as my friend Vicky came over with her little girl Esme and it was fun.

We took a walk and the little ones got to play. Eden was just kicking off all day though. I keep telling myself that it is teething woes but in reality I think it is frustration as she can't comunicate what she wants. Well whatever it is, it's really annoying cos I can't be doing with the screaming and kicking. I think she just wants to be free and who can blame her? Being right on the verge of walking and being put in a buggy when you want to do your own thing has got to bug.

Back at home little Esme was happily having a little play with some of Eden's things and she was NOT happy about it. Snatching things away and getting stroppy. Sometimes I just don't know how to react when she does that because she is too young to understand what I am saying but I want to get her into good habits starting young.

I don't want a spoilt baby.

Don't get me wrong it isn't all bad! i think if she had an older sibling it would be easier as she would be used to sharing stuff but y'no, she is still a baby her self yet. I think nursery will help.

So how do you discipline a young child/toddler?

Adios,

Japan Today

Today, our thought's are with all of those men, women, and children who are affected by the terrible earthquake/tsunami that has hit Japan.

I can't imagine what they are going through.

That is all.

Temper

Sometimes I wonder where she gets the temper from. I would say that I am quite placid unless provoked and my husband can be very stubborn, so, I guess I will blame him :o)

One of the downsides I find with my baby turning into a toddler is the temper tantrums and the meltdowns. To be fait though it mainly happens when she is overtired, or really into something and I disturb her. Today we went to a shopping place and it was pretty busy but we found a quiet spot and let her out of the buggy. Eden is soooo close to walking now she can taste it and she can walk really well when my husband and I hold her hands, so we let her walk hoping to tire her out and when she had enough *she was pretty overtired* she got down to crawl. Well the floor was pretty dirty so I went over to pick her up and she went into total meltdown throwing herself down and clambering to get away from me. It was really funny but it's just another example of her getting older.

Were having similar issues with food now as getting her meals into her is becoming a challenge. I think this is partly because she knows she can kind of do it herself so she doesn't want us to feed her but also she has decided she doesn't like a lot of stuff anymore. So I end up letting her hold the fork while I load it with food out of the bowl, and she eats it.... crazy but it is the only way!!!

Night,
