Sleeping Beauty

Sometimes it is so difficult to get Eden to nap. There is just to much other fun to be had so sleep is boring. Unfortunately for me this can be a long period of time coaxing her to sleep. When she shows tiredness cues I will take her upstairs and if I am lucky she will fall straight asleep, but very often we have a mini play session before she will nod off.

pre sleep Eden

Sometimes I just sit there just watching her, totally in awe.
I wonder how I ever got so lucky!!

Character Traits

She is so fiesty! She will do whatever it takes to get what she wants. I shouldn't laugh really because she could give me problems when she is older.

She likes rough play. Are all babies like that?

I don't think she will get any grief at school. I don't think I will have that to worry about.

When she was in my belly sometimes she would kick so hard it would hurt and I would say "Ouch!' she would respond to my gentle pokes with an almighty kick. I knew she would have a temper.

As the doctor was taking her out of my belly I heard a cry "Your crying before your even out!" she said. What an introduction!

The day she was born, when I was on the ward at times when the other babies cried for their feed or because they needed changing they would make a little noise - nothing too distressing. That night Eden woke, she screamed so loud she woke all the ward, the noise was so loud my ears hurt. It wasn't a cry, it was a scream. She was healthy, she was well - just hungry. I was mortified.

These days the screaming isn't as often, only when she is very overtired but the temper is still. I have a fiesty daughter and I have no clue where she gets it from.

Beyond Today

So Eden has gone off to her nans for a couple of hours of fun and frolics and I am sat here eating a croissant and writing this. I have a ton of things that I should be doing while I have this precious time alone as I don't have it very often but it is just nice to sit, do nothing and be ME.

Sometimes when you have a child/baby it is so easy to lose your own identity, you are no longer an individual, you are "Eden's mum" - it is great but what happens when they have their independence and don't need you anymore?

Eden is so reliant on me I can't imagine what life will be like when she is all grown up, thinks she knows it all, and the teenage years don't bear thinking about! "They grow up too fast" - I hear that all too often, that is why I am writing this, taking pictures, videos so that I can look back when Eden has her own family and reminisce on what life was like "back then".

I love taking pictures, it is something I am passionate about, and I have the perfect little subject but over the past few months I have lost direction in terms of creativity and haven't had any kind of outlet but I am hoping  that in keeping this blog it will give me focus and a creative outlet.

Taken in Spain around the time that Eden was conceived... With no idea what we had in store!!!

I guess I should be doing something as this house won't clean itself!!

Like Two Peas

It was another one of those mornings when I woke up just as tired as when I went to sleep. It's like that a lot these days. She has been sleeping with me the last week wIhile she has been sick. I fear for her breathing with such a stuffy nose so it's easier and gives me peace of mind when she is next to me, and she wants lots of cuddles. I know it is probably the wrong thing to do - co-sleeping, and I always thought it was something I wouldn't do but I have to admit I do enjoy the closeness. To wake up with my baby touching my face, babbling, smiling at me is worth all of those restless night and more. I wouldn't change her for the world.

We had such a lazy day, playing, eating, sleeping, watching cartoons, me laughing at her trying to roll across the room on her belly. Every day is so precious.

Eden has definitely got her appetite back now, with a vengeance! She had her favourite fruit after dinner watermelon and devoured it!

I am going to try to make the best of the next couple of weeks before I go back to work, I am only going back for 2 and a half days a week but oh the guilt! I don't want to leave her. So we will have lots of quality time together now. It's music mayhem with her little friend Ria tomorrow - priceless!

I couldn't resist uploading this picture from our day out yesterday, look at that tall girl standing up!!

List It

I have a million lists. Things to do. Things to buy. Things to remember...

Sunday Out

We where invited to a birthday party this afternoon but we didn't want to risk Eden passing any nasty germs to the other children hhhmmmmm.. what to do..

We needed some fresh air as we had been house bound all week and I was seriously getting cabin fever so we headed over to Rivington Barn where we had the most delicious carvery meal. Eden had her own food but seemed much more impressed with our roast potatoes!

We then headed over to Haigh Hall and had a stroll around the gardens. Eden was a bit bewildered by the long grass and wasn't so sure whether or not she liked it.

"I'm really not sure about this green stuff mum"

She is a very lucky girl. In here 9 months since birth she has been for numerous days out, travelled around the country, had her first holiday etc....

When she is older I will tell her what a lucky girl she is and how so many kids don't get the life that she has with such doting parents.

TTFN,

Key Pieces

So there are a few things that I have accumulated over the months that I think defines Eden's "style"

I always thought it was important for her to look good. I know a lot of people will roll their eyes and think "why do you need to spend so much on baby clothes, they only grow out of them!" - but I have to say that the things she has, she has had for months, and they have lasted - plus I LOVE co-ordinating her outfits and looking for bargains.. it is my favourite hobby. Most of her items are on sale anyway and I always look for a good deal.

Anyhow, I really really like Bandana Bibs and Eden has a couple. You can get them on ebay of various quality, but I recommend the Bibistuff ones. There are not many around in the UK which makes the look even more unique and if your little one is a bit of a dribbler these look much more stylish that a regular bib.

Another thing that she has, although she doesn't wear them as often anymore is headbands. She has tons of headbands and I have had so many comments from strangers asking where I get them from. One of the better sites is Daisy Dots Boutique as I have had a few from here and you can mix and match them - however they can be a little pricey but great for a special occasion.

Another really cool buy is Mary Jane Socks as Eden has a few pairs and they are the perfect transition between normal socks and shoes as they have a grip underneath for when baby gets mobile but they look like shoes. She couldn't do without them these days.

Laters,
